Once you have found that new home, before you have “completely” fallen head over heals
in love with it, make sure you get the home professionally inspected. In Washington State there is licensing of Home Inspectors. They must operate under a Standards of Practice as well as a Code of Ethics.
The Home Inspector will be able to better inform you as to many aspects of the home’s condition. Regardless of how the inspection report is used it will always provide valuable information that can save you money as well as keep you safer in your new home.
I am Charles Buell and I am a Licensed Home Inspector as well as a Licensed Structural Pest Inspector. I am a Certified Member of ASHI—the premier association of Home Inspectors in the United States. I also teach at Bellingham Technical College the course that is required of persons entering the field of home inspections. Previous to this incarnation I was a General Contractor for over 33 years and feel that I am able to add this experience to what I provide as a Home Inspector.
